Yesterday marked the thousandth day of war in Sudan and this horrible milestone made no headlines and world leaders made no speeches for peace in Sudan. The world is awash in war, threats, attacks on human rights, rising costs, and mounting fear, and in this tornado of events, the focus on Sudan has been lost or has never materialized. This war is often framed as a civil war, but it is not a civil war. It should be correctly characterized as a proxy war because without the UAE is funding and arming the RSF, this war and genocide would have been ended years ago. The RSF has committed genocide throughout Sudan, targeting any political opponents and focusing on eliminating indigenous tribes of Sudan.
9.1 million Sudanese have been displaced.
21 million Sudanese are acutely food insecure.
5,000 children a day are displaced.
