This is all overwhelming and daunting to take in the sheer amount of power and control over the entire world that fascists are absorbing. In the US, Trump is on the attack after any perceived opposition to the administration or policies, but the Democrats offer no opposition. This immense job is up to the people of the US, and the entire world, to stand up to fascism because there is no party in power, no institution, no group that has the bravery to fully fight back against this magnitude of fascism because the fascists control the very groups that allegedly “protect” us. The Trump administration breaks US laws, the US constitution, international law, and human rights but will turn around and condemn and attack people standing for these laws and rights.
If international law really existed, the US would be labeled a terror state and every president would be tried and held at the Hague. If international law really existed, the US would have sanctions and arms embargoes. Because the international community is bullied into submission by the US, there are no concrete steps to hold the US accountable so the genocide in Gaza and Sudan remains ongoing, the war in Ukraine continues, the US has attacked Yemen and Iran, the US has killed Venezuelan fishermen, sent US troops into Mexico, sending soldiers to Venezuela, and many more instances of international law violations but these are the more recent.
And because no country has the courage to stand up to the global bully, we see other leaders take a page out of the fascist handbook and realize they will go the fascist route because no one will check them.
International law has lost its legitimacy and support because leaders gave up.
This doesn’t mean that international law does not exist. For me, an idealist, I fully endorse and support international law. The issue is that we have people in power around the world who want to circumvent it, erase it, and deny all rights. The law is not the issue, it is the people behind the law who do nothing to uphold it..
The whole concept of international law has just been a charade all along, until the day (now) has come when governments and leaders are simply giving up the charade all together. They wanted us to buy into the performance so we would behave, and we did because they gave us just enough, not a lot, but enough to string us along. The jig is up and the reality we face is one where the law is harsh and deadly on the people, but there is no law or repercussions for the elite and those in power. We are told to be lawful and law abiding citizens, but elected officials and those with extreme wealth can commit crimes at home and around the world with no accountability and attempts at justice will only see retribution from the government.
What ended up happening is that we the people are the only ones following the law. We are expected to follow our country’s laws. Our leaders do not have to follow the laws and are somehow exempt from accountability and this is something we must accept. This is not something to ever accept.
It is imperative that everyone lets go of viewing and acting based on one stringent ideology. What is desperately needed is for everyone to view and act through a human rights based perspective. Let go of the political party. Let go of the political rhetoric. Embrace human rights. It’s incredibly sad that political ideologies would go against human rights but there comes the time that they will indeed undermine and attack human rights.
There is no country, no political party, no organization, no group that is protecting basic human rights. There is always a limit of reach that, for example, an organization will have. The organization will declare that they fight for human rights, but if they truly did, then our human rights would not be on the chopping block like they are currently. Most of these groups are funded by the fascists (as part of the charade to make us think there is an outlet when there is none). This is why genocides are still ongoing in Gaza and Sudan. This is why sovereign countries are being invaded. This is why innocent people are being held in concentration camps in the US.
What is taking place in regards to Palestine’s future is an example of the horrific reality the entire world faces. The UNSC voted for the US plan to go forward in that there will be other countries, namely the US, in charge of Palestine’s future one that is not determined by the Palestinian people (breaking both international law and human rights). China and Russia abstained from the vote but did not veto this colonial plan.
There is no country that will save us.
There is no leader that will save us.
There is no political party that will save us.
There is no group that will save us.
WE have to save each other.
To be very clear, I am not demonizing or stating that all political ideologies are false or bad. Every political ideology has its good and bad. What we have to do is acknowledge the bad and do better. There are no clean hands here. What we have to do is not subscribe to one way of thought and be open to the good from other political ideologies. There is not one way of thought that is the right way, so let’s find the good from many schools of thought and put them to good use.
The greatest issue we face is getting the ball rolling and waking the world up from the spell of fear that we are under, that this fear is really an illusion because we have all the power. Our labor controls this world. Without our labor, the fascists have nothing because their empires are built on profit. We remove our labor, they have no profit, and their empire crumbles. We are in control and we do nothing with this power except in protests, but those protests show the number of people who want change and will take action for change.
It is time to wake up from this threat of fear and know that we can initiate change for the better if we strike together.
I understand this is a lot. Most people keep their heads down now a days and disassociate into their comforts. Those comforts are swiftly coming to an end. Nothing is left untouched with fascists in power and everyone keeping their head down is feeling the loss. I just don’t know what it will take to push everyone into action. This limbo that we are in is what hits me hard and deeply affects me because we have a feasible path for a world free from oppressors, but people still opt for oppression out of fear. There’s also this disgusting thing that people do whether it is intentional or subconscious, but some people will seek to oppress others out of self-preservation. These thoughts way heavy on me and hold me back from writing because there are some people in such a state of fear and denial that nothing can be said for them to acknowledge the horrors of our reality and the role they play in it.
We have to be honest and create and support a world where the truth matters and is sought out.
Let’s strike around the world to remove fascists from power, to protect human rights, to uphold international law, to fully give the power of governance back to the people.
We are the ones who must vote and decide on the paths for our country’s and not elected officials. The role of an elected official should no longer be to vote as a representative of citizens because this power has been abused for too long. It does not matter what country or who the elected officials are, the abuse of power is international and historical. It is a story as old as time, that absolute power corrupts absolutely. With this role of representing citizens, elected officials do nothing to help their constituents and use their time and power to help their donors or companies that bribe them. If that power to vote on legislation is transitioned back to the people, then the citizens voices are heard and fully represented because it is their own individual vote on legislation that benefits the people and not some politician that has been paid off supporting legislation that harms constituents and benefits moneyed interests.
The power must go back to the people. We cannot trust any elected officials, just look at Zohran Mamdani who has backtracked on pro-Palestine policies, retaining a zionist as police chief of NYC, and supporting Hakeem Jeffries (another Zionist) over a Socialist who wants to primary Jeffries. To top it all off, Mamdani chummed it up with the fascist Trump in the White House and couldn't call him a fascist until Trump gave him permission. This meeting happened the same day that Trump met with IDF soldiers and gave them medals for “bravery”. The moral of this story is that we cannot trust elected officials because we are fed lies until they gain power and then the mask comes off. At some point we have to address the actual system and make a change so that our voices are heard and not those of the wealthy.
Now, imagine that we strike and remove these fascists from power, and, in place, we create a system where the citizens vote on legislation that elected officials would have voted on. We can still have elections and elected officials, but they would be in the role of a project manager to ensure that what we vote on sees fruition and helps monitor projects as well as write legislation (but anyone would be able to write and present legislation).
It is time we take matters into our own hands.
IT IS TIME TO STRIKE.
We can make the world we want.
We have the power.
IT IS TIME TO STRIKE.
From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free. May the whole world be free.
